For the management of Companies Commission of Malaysia also known as Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) Perak, as September 24, was a meaningful and memorable day as their spanking new building known as Menara SSM located at Jalan Basco Kepayang here was officiated by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
The agency has been renting several premises since 1992 before they moved into the present building of their own in December 2021.
Also present at the event was Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim, Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad and Domestic Trade Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali and other state dignitaries.
The 10-storey building covers an area of 175,853 square feet with several facilities and infrastructure including parking lots, cafe, convenience store, surau and a 24-hour security surveillance.
With a workforce of 49 officers and staff, SSM office is located at the ground floor to serve the public.
To generate revenue other floors would be rented out with currently two tenants, Accountant General’s Department and Valuation and Property Services Department are occupying the lots.
Meanwhile Armizan in his speech pointed out SSM and the state of Perak had a significant past history record in the development of the corporate sector and also the economy growth.
It was in Perak that the first company known as Kuala Kangsar Plantations Company Limited received the certificate of incorporation of a company from the then agency known as Registrar of Companies which is now known as SSM in 1898.
