Some 40 orphans from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cahaya Kasih Kinta,Perak and Pertubuhan Baitul Aini Anak-Anak Yatim dan Miskin Ipoh, Perak were treated to a hearty meal in conjunction with the opening of Mr Roasted Restaurant at Greentown Business Centre here recently.
The ceremony was officiated by Datuk Bandar Ipoh Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @Md Daud.
Also present was Director of Mr Roasted Sdn Bhd, Eric Lee.
Rumaizi in his speech thanked the restaurant who joined hands with Ipoh City Council to carry out a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) especially the Program MBI Prihatin.
He hoped others will emulate Mr. Roasted efforts to organise events which will benefit the needy city residents.
The establishment of the restaurant will help to boost food related tourism and attract more visitors to the city.
Rumaizi also commended the media who had assisted the council yearly to publicise events so that more organisations will come forward to contribute to programmes for the well being of the people and under privilege.
The Chinese Muslim restaurant provides a diverse range of dishes with unique flavours.
Among the dishes are roasted chicken, duck, BBQ chicken, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Claypot Series (lamb, seafood and others).
The restaurant also operates a branch along Jalan Tambun.
The restaurant which started business in 2023 was also awarded the Grade A Certificate for cleanliness.
Rumaizi also presented a certificate application to Lee.
It is hoped that by the year 2026, at least 50 percent of 3,200 food premises will obtain Grade A Certificate.
Until June 2024, a total of 953 of 3,200 premises had received Grade A Certificates.
