In an effort to strengthen bilateral relations between media practitioners from Perak and Thailand, the Ipoh City Council (MBI) organized a three-day Working Visit Program to Hatyai and Songkhla, Thailand, starting on 21 August.

The program aims to foster closer ties and cultivate a spirit of kinship between media representatives from both countries.

A total of 20 media practitioners from Perak, representing various agencies, participated in the delegation.

The working visit was led by Datuk Ahmad Hariri bin Kamarudin, a member of the MBI Council and Chairman of the MBI Subcommittee on Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Heritage, representing the Mayor of Ipoh.

One of the main highlights of the program was a visit to NBT Television of Thailand in Songkhla, where the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Pathompong Keawbandit, Director of NBT Songkhla.

The delegation had the opportunity to observe broadcasting operations and share experiences in the field of broadcast media.

Additionally, the program was further strengthened with the organization of the Thailand–Malaysia Southern Media Friendship Forum, which provided a platform for both sides to discuss potential collaborations in media, tourism, economy, and social development.

Among those involved in the sharing session were: Datuk Ahmad Hariri bin Kamarudin (MBI Council Member and Chairman of the MBI Subcommittee on Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Heritage), Chaiyong Maneerungsakul (President of the Southern Thailand Media Association / Senator), Dr. Sittipong Sitthiphataraphrabha (President of the Hatyai–Songkhla Hospitality Association), and Mohamad Hafizi Mohd Said (Representative of Perak Media, Malaysia).

Also present at the forum was Ahmad Fahmi Ahmad Sarkawi, Consul General of Malaysia in Songkhla.

This program is expected to serve as a foundational platform for further strengthening strategic cooperation in the media sector, while also supporting tourism promotion efforts and ongoing regional relations.
