A state government delegation headed by Housing and Local Government Committee Chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching including Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah visited to study the Smart City initiative in Sarawak recently.
The visit was also to look at the good practices, exchange ideas and the implementation of the smart city concept.
The delegation visited the Sarawak Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government .They presented the introduction of the concept while the Ministry’s Head of Management Section Tan Chee Kang briefed the visitors on the smart city concept.
Several technical presentations were presented by representatives from Kuching Utara City Council and Miri Municipal Council.
They later called on Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Economy Planning and Development) Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel before continuing their discussion and technical briefing on the implementation of the smart city concept at Kuching Selatan Municipal Council.

Earlier they made a courtesy call on Kuching Selatan City Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng. The working visit focussed on strong strategic relationships among states through enhancing city governance, digital services and urban sustainable development.
It is hoped that this would serve as a smart sharing platform to empower the implementation of Smart City in Perak through efficient adaptation, innovation and high impact for the benefit of the rakyat.
