A total of 90 booths were set up at the Perak Global Indian Shopping Expo & Viral Food Festival held at Aeon Big Falim here from June 11 to 15

Visitors made their way to the carnival to do shopping which ranges from clothing, food and other items organised by Colours of India.

Batu Gajah MP V. Sivakumar who visited the expo said “Times have changed now with more Indian youths involved in business compared to seeking jobs in the civil service in the past.

“More people from the community are going into business which will eventually raise their economic status.

“They have come out with new creativity from the traditional business and the expo is a platform for the traders to promote their products.

“At times the entrepreneurs do not have information as to where to promote their products,”

He noted that rentals are high and shoplots are expensive so expos of this nature are the best to promote and sell their products.

Meanwhile event director V.K. Ravindra Kumar said: “This is the seventh year we are organising the carnival.

“We estimated some 50,000 people who came in to do their shopping. We regularly hold such carnivals in all states. The carnival is also open to all Malaysians,” he added.

Several activities were also held at the carnival.
