Perak Menteri Besar Dato Seri Saarani Mohamad has called for the diversion route around the Menora Tunnel to be accelerated.
This is due to the constant congestion and accidents near the tunnel.
The route is an integral part of the North-South Expressway outside of Ipoh city.
“The completion of the new route will help to overcome many accidents and unnecessary traffic congestion especially during peak seasons like long school holidays and public holidays,” said Saarani.
The 64km alternate roadway was initially proposed in 2021 but has been delayed due to several factors.
The final green light for the project to be implemented is under the Works Ministry.
