By the year 2030, the Ipoh City Council hopes to realize its plan of making the city to be dubbed “Walkable Ipoh”.

To this end, a launching ceremony was held at the Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites officiated by Perak Menteri Besar Dato Saarani Mohamad accompanied by Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin.

Also present were State Exco members and other heads of departments.

The event also saw the launching of the Ipoh City Low Carbon 2030 initiative and the Ipoh City Council’s strategic Plan 2030.

The Ipoh City Council will widen walk ways further to meet this objective. More facilities will also be provided to cover the Old Town, New Town and Greentown.

The project will also help to attract tourism and tourism related industries.

Other than walkways, bicycle lanes will also be introduced which will help to overcome traffic congestion in the city. There will be facilities for the disabled to use their wheelchairs. In the final analysis, the aim of a Healthy Walkable City will be achieved.

This major plan will also assist greatly  in the low carbon footprint initiatives for the overall benefit of citizens of Ipoh.
