Traders in Little India in Ipoh received a boost in organising the ongoing Deepavali carnival when an allocation of RM20,000 was given to them.
The presentation of a mock cheque was made by State Tourism, Industry, Investment, Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee on October 24.
The association President T. Vignes Thillai received the mock cheque. Earlier, he visited the stalls at the carnival which started on October 10.
A cultural show will begin on October 25 till 29. Loh also officiated a soft launch of the carnival.
In his speech, he said: “In years to come we hope the carnival will be held on a bigger and larger scale. This will also help attract more tourists to the city”
“Some activities could also be held in Little India on other days,” he added.
