Car boot sales opposite Dataran Bandaraya will be relocated by Ipoh City Council to the MBI Terrace.

The decision was made after a stakeholder session with 40 traders held recently. Four traders did not attend the meeting.

The engagement session was organised by the council’s Management Facility Department.

The meeting was chaired by council secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak. Several senior officers from the council were also present.

The operators have been given until December 15 to respond to the rental offered by the council.

The traders were also briefed on rental terms, handling of food and safety, conditions in licence and disposal of waste.

They were given rental offer letters and a site voting process.

The relocation process is to place them at a proper site so as to offer more food attraction areas to visitors.

The council also reminded them to ensure a smooth relocation exercise, notices on the ban of car boot sales will be placed at Dataran Bandaraya before December 20.

Enforcement action will be taken against those who breach the law from December 21.
