With Ipoh City already on the international map showcasing its tourism products and attractions, the council has introduced a new concept of promoting its attractions via Electric Train Service (ETS).

“This is a new initiative apart from social media and website platforms of the council  to advertise tourism products via trains with the cooperation of the council and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB)”, siad Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud said

“ETS operating from Kuala Lumpur up to Padang Besar in the northern part of the country and from Kuala Lumpur to Gemas in the southern region, we are confident to attract and increase the number of tourists to Ipoh,” he told reporters after flagging off a ETS service from Ipoh at the Ipoh Railway Station here today. Also present was KTMB’s Chief Operating Officer Mohd Zain Mat Zaha.

The council has taken the approach to launch the Visit Ipoh Year 2023 as a showcase for the Visit Perak Year 2024 and a step to prepare the city on the tourism map before Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Among the products which had been promoted are the 3H concept, Hipster, Heritage and Health.

Mushrooming of cafes with the hipster design, 27 historical buildings built during British rule and sophisticated hospital facilities which can accept foreign visitors for treatment are among the characteristic features in the 3H concept.

“KTMB will be introducing an additional ETS from Kuala Lumpur Ipoh and vice versa to reduce travelling time to two hours from three hours  currently”, said Mohd Zain in support of the promotion.
