Visitors to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh who had to fight for parking bays daily can breathe a sigh of relief as police would not issue summonses for illegal parking around the hospital compound.

Currently motorists have to fork out to pay the summons when vehicles are parked at non-parking lots as visitors or family members have to rush to visit patients including emergency cases.

Perak Health, Human Resources and Indian Community Affairs Committee chairman A. Sivanesan said he had sought the cooperation of Perak Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri to stop issuing summons to motorists.

The relaxation will be valid until May 23, 2023 where upgrading work at the parking lot which can accommodate 240 vehicles opposite Klinik Greentown is completed on May 23.

According to Sivanesan, he met up with the Police chief on Monday (April 3) and promised to look into the issue.

“The police have also requested motorists not to double park their vehicles.

“I will be meeting with Datuk Bandar Ipoh (Dato Rumaizi Baharin) to discuss the same matter on April 11,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sivanesan also reminded motorists not to park haphazardly which could disrupt flow of traffic on the busy road.

He was speaking to reporters after hosting a buka puasa event for media practitioners at a restaurant here on Monday.

Also present was Persatuan Pengamal Media Perak President Sayed Mohd Hesham Sayed Idris.
