After a lapse of 14 years, the Rotary Ekiden Run was brought back to Ipoh on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at the Ipoh Polo Ground.

This event was organized by the Rotary Club in Perak, in collaboration with the Perak Tourism Association, Dewan Bandaraya Ipoh & Polis Di Raja Perak.

The Ekiden Run which originated from Japan, embodies a celebration of running, teamwork and the spirit of competition, making it a popular and engaging event for runners of all levels.

A team consists of five runners, with each runner running two kilometers for a total of 10 kilometers.

This year’s event garnered a total of 31 teams and 155 participants. There was an array of participants from the private and government sector, NGO’s, the general public along with Rotary Clubs.

The youngest participant was 18 years old and the oldest 82.

The guest of honor was District 3300 Governor Edward Khoo, the Organizing Chair was Past President Francis Vijeyaselvan from the Rotary Club of Greentown.

Participants came from all walks of life to participate in this unique event, on wheelchairs, also a special scooter with special needs. They were an inspiration for everyone to succeed.

Looking at all the team members, encouraging, motivating and pushing one and other to complete the run, was friendship and camaraderie at its best.

A sea of blue filled the Ipoh Polo Ground on that Sunday morning, where everyone in spite of their tiredness, enjoyed the entire event.
