Players, officials and sponsors of the 29th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah (SAS) Cup 2022 were hosted to a fine dinner at the Casuarina@Meru in Jelapang.
Lending presence was his HRH Sultan of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah and Raja Eleena.
The formalities included a speech by the newly elected president of the Perak Hockey Association (PHA), Mohd Sayuti Abdul Samat who highlighted the significance of the tournament and thanked all involved in hosting the event successfully.
This was followed by another speech by the newly elected president of International Hockey Federation (FIH), Mohammad Tayyab ikram.
“We are committed to carry on the legacy of the late Sultan Azlan Shah who had the inspiration behind this tournament. I have many great memories while working with the late Sultan.
“We are also committed to undertake sustainability in our future tournament and also for the Los Angeles Olympic 2028. I also thank all participating teams and the organising committee for hosting this wonderful tournament,” he added.
Meanwhile, umpires and officials were also presented with momentos by Raja Nazrin Shah.
Guests were treated to some local and international menu while being entertained by a song and dance group from the state arts & culture department.
Participating teams in the tournament are Japan, Korea, South Africa, Pakistan and Egypt. Tomorrow (Nov 10) Malaysia will take on Korea for the title at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium.
