Despite the current rainy season, some 400 people converged at Taman Buntong Jaya field to participate in the Deepavali and Christmas celebrations last Saturday.

They braved the heavy downfall to be part of the event which started at 6.30pm.

It was jointly organised by State Culture and Arts Department, Persatuan Kebajikan dan Kebudayaan India Ipoh Perak, Persatuan Kebajikan, Sosial, Sukan dan Kebudayaan India Kinta Perak and Taman Buntong Jaya Rukun Tetangga.

Buntong assemblywoman Thulasi Manogaran officiated the event. 

She represented state exco member in charge of  Human Resources, Health, National Integration and Indian Affairs, A. Sivanesan 

Police officers, community leaders were among the guests. 

The crowd were entertained to songs and dances while enjoying their food. 

Organising chairman P. Palaiya in his speech praised the residents and VIPs despite the heavy downfall to make the event a success. 

Twenty five lucky draw prizes were also given out to winners.
