The Perak State Government through Tourism Perak hosted a Visit Perak Year 2024 Appreciation event for tourism players for their commitment and support to make the campaign a success at the Tourism Perak office compound on April 15.

It also celebrated the seventh year anniversary of Kopiro, the tourism mascot for the state.

The mascot’s name was drawn from the words “Kopi 0” and “Tapir” as the two elements are significant to Perak.

State Tourism, Investment, Industry and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee presented appreciation certificates to representatives from several government agencies, NGOs, private sectors, strategic partners and other tourism industry players

In his speech he said, “The role and involvement of all parties in the campaign recorded 10.2 million domestic visitors while 940,938 foreigners made their way to the state.

“The figure exceeded the target set for domestically at eight million and 350,000 foreign visitors.

“The statistics show the confidence of visitors towards tourist attractions in the state as well as the support and close cooperation between the government and the tourism community,” he added.

Kinta district emerged as the largest district with 3.72 million visitors followed by Manjung (2.68 million) and Larut, Matang and Selama district registered 1.55 million tourists.

During the campaign a total of 122 programmes including 32 international events were organised.

He noted that although the curtains had come down for the Visit Perak Year 2024 but the state would continue the momentum in preparation for the Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
