With the well being of the people in mind and to avoid any inconvenience to them, the Ipoh City Council organised a Town Hall session with some 40 residents here recently. (August 14).
The council’s team was led by its secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak which was to discuss and exchange ideas on the proposal to build a traffic light and to turn the road into one way street at Jalan Perajurit and at its surrounding areas at Taman Perak.
Also present were Canning Assemblywoman and Perak Deputy Speaker Jenny Choy Tsi Jen, Ipoh Timur MP Howard Lee Chuan and the council’s Senior Technical Director A’zman Mohd Harun.
The council purposed to construct a traffic light at Jalan Perajurit and convert the road off Jalan Perajurit and part of Lebuh 2, Lintasan Perajurit 6 and Persiaran Perajurit 6, Taman Perak into a one way street.
Tbe suggestions were made after the council received complaints of traffic accidents at the junction of Jalan Perajurit.
Vehicles faced difficulties while driving in and existing at the junction of the housing estate and motorists have to put up with traffic jams.
The public had also brought up the issue of lack of parking lots at the nearby shop houses.
It is hope with the changes in the flow of traffic, accidents will be reduced and the safety and convenience of the motorists will be improved.
The council will also allocate an extra 50 parking lots in the existing area.
