The Ungku Omar Polytechnic, the first and oldest polytechnic in the country, has opened its new branch campus in Bercham.
Construction of the project costing RM27.1 million began in 2018 and was completed in December 2024.
The handing over ceremony of the building by the Public Works Department to the Ministry of Higher Education and Department of Polytechnic Education and Community College was held at the campus recently.
The ceremony was witnessed by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Diraja Zambry Abd Kadir.
The student intake will begin next month in phases until August.
The building will be able to cater for 1,200 students pursuing various courses.
The premises has six rooms with Technology-enable Collaborative and Classroom with a wide range of facilities including Virtual Reality, Bank Stimulation among others.
Elements of Green Campus would be implemented through saving energy and green technology by utilising energy saving lamps and also Rain Harvesting System.
It is hoped that the opening of the campus will support the empowerment aspiration of TVET in line with the Nation’s TVET Policy 2030.
