With the theme “Women Aspire To Build a Legacy” (Wanita Beraspirasi Membina Legasi) in conjunction with Women’s Day celebrations,Ipoh City Council organised the event at Bilik Gerakan MBI here recently.

It was hosted by the Council’s Unity, Women Development,Family and Community Sub-Committee and PUSPANITA MBI .

More then 150 participants including committee members and from four NGOs, Pertubuhan Perpaduan Budaya Wanita Kinta,Perak Women -UC, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Sinar Mentari Perak (PSMP) ,Persatuan Kebajikan Bestari Sejahtera (BESTARI)  Ipoh, Perak and Pertubuhan Pelita Anggerik Hulu Perak attended and some of the through Facebook participated in the event.

Also present were chairman of the sub committee Councillor Zuraidah Zakaria and PUSPANITA Chairperson Datin Siti Faezah Md Noor

Two speakers, Investigating Officer Inspector Siti Sarah Ahmad Subki spoke on the topic “Women and Justice” which covered Protection and Tackling Violence.

It also included discrimination and access to the system of law, women should not be afraid to lodge police reports against any kind of violence.

They should get treatment at hospitals to avoid serious incidents.

A training consultant/counsellor Yong Bazilah Abu Bakar spoke on the topic entitled “Facing the Global Challenge: Womens’ Resilience and Inspiration between career and house wife .

Among the components of the ceramah  included fighting for justice and due respect must be given to women and should also balance the responsibilities at home and office.

The participants have gained additional knowledge based on the current scenario.

To acknowledge the contribution of the participants, the committee presented goodies and brooches to them.
