Labour Day brought cheers to a Form Two student when her number was picked at the lucky draw and took home a motorcycle during the Labour Day celebrations at Indian Recreational Club field here on May 1.
Riayana Stephen,14, from Methodist Girls Schools was overjoyed when her number was drawn by Ipoh Barat MP M.Kulasegaran who was among 500 people who attended the event.
According to her, she will give the motorcycle to her father as his own bike is already old.
“I don’t have a licence now but will take it later,”he added.
The motorcycle is among lucky draw prizes including two gold rings, a television, three bicycles,electrical items and hampers.
The event was organised by the Association for Welfare, Community and Dialogue Ipoh.
Among the activities were senamrobik conducted by staff of Kinta Youth and Sports Department .
Kulasegaran in his speech asked SPM school leavers to apply for skills training for a better future.
The crowd was also given a talk by Malaysian Medical Association Perak Vice President Dr Monesh Pillai on health issues.
Also present was Perak Goldsmith Shop Owners Association President Datuk Amaluddin Mohamed Ismail.
