BUILDS, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Chemor based YTL Cement, embarked on a community programme recently.

The initiative was supported by Global Environmental Centre (GEC), aimed at collecting and beautifying the surroundings in conjunction with World Environment Day 2024.

The project was carried out at the community park at Taman Chemor Idaman.

Joining hands for the project were the volunteers from Rukun Tetangga Taman Chemor Idaman along with the Department of Environment (Perak), District Office and Local Council representatives and other governmental officials.

Dubbed “Our Land, Our Future”, the programme was also aimed to spread awareness of taking good care of the environment and the surroundings.

Participants cleared rubbish and other refuse from the area and also planted trees and other seedlings to beautify the housing estate.

Lending support was State DOE deputy director Hazizi Esa along with YTL Cement director Dato’ Halimah Hassan.

Residents were also given pointers on the separation of waste material by organic waste, electronic waste, liquid waste and solid waste and recyclable waste.

Proceeds from the sale of these waste materials will be channeled to the Taman Chemor Idaman RT fund to benefit the community at large there.

YTL Cement also contributed several species of plants to beautify and add more greenery to the area.
