The Kinta Riverwalk was officially launched to offer more places of attractions for visitors to Ipoh City.
On hand was Perak State Exco for Housing, Local Government and Tourism Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi and Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin.
Also present was Hasri A Hasan, Chief Operating Officer, Northern Corridor Implementation Authority, Muhammad Fazlullah Abdul Aziz, Head, Project Delivery (NCIA), Ariff Ahmad, Head, Media & Stakeholder Management Corporate Communications Unit (NCIA) and Juliah Shamsul Shaari, General Manager, Corporate Communications, Corporate Communications Unit (NCIA).
The opening of the unique location along Kinta River is also expected to encourage more small scale businesses to thrive and the overall economy of the city.
The venue will now become part of the Ipoh Heritage Trail for visitors here and part of the Ipoh Walkable City plan.
The 1,600 meter project starts from the Kinta Riverfront Hotel till Jalan Lim Bo Seng bridge. Funding for the project of RM3 million was supported by the Northern Corridor implementation Authority (NCIA).
Another 195 meter stretch from Restaurant Hadramout ( Lim Bo Seng bridge till Jalan Sultan Idris Shah bridge was funded by the state Government to the tune of RM500,000.
The final segment from Old Town from the Jalan Sultan Idris Shah bridge till Lorong Hale measuring some 280 meters will be paid by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government at RM500,000.
Previously, the New Year countdown for 2022 held at Kinta Riverwalk received good response from members of the public.
Among the highlights at the Kinta Riverfront are the three iconic bridges with two of them lit up dubbed the “Glow In The Dark” concept. There are also stalls in the concept of Hipster, Heritage & Health (3H).
