Ipoh has become the first state in the Northern Region to offer 5G facilities for members of the public.
This is in line with the Ipoh Smart City objectives of the Ipoh City Council.
To further benefit the community, several community centres in Ipoh received complimentary computers thanks to Theta Edge Berhad and the Ipoh City Council.
Among the community centres which benefitted are in Lahat, Chemor, Sungai Rokam, Kampung Tengku Husin Lama, Kinta Heights, Taman Klebang among others.
Present at the handing over ceremony was Ipoh Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin along with Theta Edge chief executive officer Nuraslina Zainal Abidin.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative saw some30 computers being presented to six community centres around the city.
Another three more computers each will be provided in Batu Gajah and Kuala Kangsar respectively.
Also present at the ceremony was Ipoh City Council secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak and Perak Tabung Haji director, Mohamad Abas, among other heads of departments.
Meanwhile, under the “MBI Prihatin” programme, more than RM2 million has been spent to help the needy and underprivileged community impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The commendable initiative has been supported by local corporations like the Econsave Supermarket, Kinta Properties and Kuala Lumpur Kepong (KLK).
