The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah along with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were among 15,000 people who attended the state level Chinese New Year celebration at Indera Mulia Stadium on February 14.
Also present were Raja Muda Perak ,Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa,Raja Di Hilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and other state dignitaries.
Joining them are Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming, Education Minister Fadzlina Sidek and Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Chang Lih Kang.
They were welcomed by a boisterous lion dance troupe before Sultan and other VIPs participated in the tossing of Yee Sang which symbolises abundance, prosperity and vigor.
The guests were also entertained by various cultural groups, music and songs.
The crowd also enjoyed the variety of dishes and drinks.
Sultan Nazrin later distributed any pow packets to 68 children from five homes.
