In an effort to attract tourists to the state ,another event, Fiesta Sungai Siput 2026 would be held in front of the basketball court behind the town here from May 1 to 3.
It is organised by the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCCI) Sungai Siput branch together with Kuala Kangsar Municipality.
It comes after the successful Pesta Panjut Kuala Kangsar held last month which saw some 27,000 traditional oil lamps lighting up the royal town.
State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Chairman Loh Sze Yee said”: the event is also a collaboration of the local authorities and community associations to continue the growth of the tourism industry in these area.
“The three day event would be filled with various activities for all walks of life,” he told reporters after a visit to the site recently.
Among them are the Chinese Calligraphy Competition and Colouring Contest for pupils in three categories, Standard One to Three, Standard 4 to 6 and Open Category.
Greenery Market had come forward to set up 70 stalls to sell food, drinks, handicrafts and local products.
Loh pointed this will also give an opportunity to local entrepreneurs to promote their products to the locals as well as outside the district.
“Several local companies are also participating to distribute their products for free to the public as an appreciation and also to give back to the community,” he added.
To enliven the fiesta, several stage shows including from Sekolah Seni Malaysia Perak, SMJK Shing Chung and SJK (C) Simpang Jalong.
The visitors would also face changing performance, 24 season drums, live band and appearance Visit Malaysia Year 2026 Mascot, Wira and Manja. The night would end with a fireworks show.
The event is line with the aspirations of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 where Perak is targeting 10.5 million domestic tourists and 1.2 million international visitors.
Such events is a platform to strengthen and enhance the state as tourist destination which offers a unique culture and competition.
