The Ipoh City Council continued to make an impact when they grabbed  the Public Service Excellence Recognition award in conjunction with Waste Management Association of Malaysia (WMAM) 2026 Annual Conference held at Genting Highlands recently 

The conference brought together  market players, Government agencies, local government authorities who handle solid waste management and landfills.

It is a platform to exchange ideas, expertise, best practices and the latest technology in waste management.

At the same time it gives and opportunity to form network and strategic cooperation between the public and private sectors to strengthen the waste management ecosystem in a sustainable manner.

The  council’s Director of Public Works, Arif Mohd Zainudin, represented the mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah to receive the award.

Also attending the event was the council’s Senior Assistant Director of Public Works (special projects) ,Nur Aifa Farihah Mad Nor.

The efforts were enhanced by the strategic cooperation with Selekta Spektra Sdn. Bhd. and Teraju Sepadu Sdn.Bhd. in efficient, systematic and sustainability solid waste management.

 Also present were Selekta Spektra Sdn.Bhd. CEO Eliza Lee and Teraju Sepadu Sdn.Bhd. Executive Director Michael Ng. As strategic partners they also supported to improve and empower the sanitary landfill under the supervision of the council.

The achievement is a catalyst for the council to continue to strengthen and enhance  services to the public especially through  technologies and also empower governance.

It will continue to expand the network with strategic partners, explore usage of new technologies to achieve the aspiration of Ipoh as Clean, Sustainable and Liveable City.
