Some 500 members of the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) nationwide gathered in Ipoh for the association’s 66th Annual General Meeting.
The three day event featured a scientific conference, dinner, an informal night and the MMA Annual Banquet.
At the banquet, newly installed President Dr Sivanesan Letchumanan delivered his address. Health Director General Datuk Dr Mahathar Abd Wahab were among the guests at the Annual Banquet. Former Health Minister Tan Sri Dr S.Subramaniam was also in attendance.
The evening saw that presentation of awards recognising members for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the medical profession and the association.
MMA Kedah grabbed the top prize followed by MMA Perak and third place went to MMA Negeri Sembilan Three charity homes, Lighthouse Hope Society, Pusat Pemulihan Buntong and Persatuan Daybreak received RM5,000 each.
Lighthouse Hope Society reaches out to the poor, elderly and marginalised folks of Ipoh via a Soup Kitchen whereby they serve hot meals on a daily basis.
Pusat Pemulihan caters to the needs of people with disabilities in Buntong,Falim, Lahat, Menglembu, Jelapang, Silibin and Manjoi.
They provide services to the disabled including physiotherapy, occupational therapy,earlier intervention programmes and pre-school for children with learning difficulties.
