The Ipoh City Council helped ease the financial burden of 50 Indian employees to celebrate Deepavali by presenting cash and goodies to them under Program MBI Prihatin here on October 14.
It was presented by Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah and attended by council’s Chief Whip Datuk Mazlan Abd Rahman, councillors, Council Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak and Heads of Departments.
It is hope the aid would assist them in their preparations to celebrate the occasion without difficulties.
Meanwhile, 33 poor families from Mambang Di Awan in Malim Anwar received a boost to celebrate Deepavali after they were given basic food necessities recently.
The distribution was made by Yayasan Perak with the cooperation of Malim Nawar State Assembly Service Centre .
Malim Nawar state assemblywoman V. Bavani Shasha presented the aid to the families.

It is an initiative by the state government to ensure the welfare of the poor are taken care of.
According to her, the distribution is carried out in phases so that all the people who are in need of assistance receive aid.
She noted the food boxes are not only an aid but a symbol of love and bring together everyone as a community.
She thanked the State Government and Yayasan Perak for their commitment to help the people at the grassroots.
