People in Buntong and nearby areas gathered at Indian Recreational Club (IRC) Deepavali Open House to enjoy the food and entertainment on Oct 12.
It was organised by Ipoh Barat Parliament Service Centre.
They enjoyed songs and dances performed by local artists. The crowd were also given food packets.
Thirty lucky draw prizes including electrical items were offered with the first three grand prizes as gold. Vouchers worth RM50 each were also distributed to 2,500 people.
Present was Kinta District Officer Zulhisham Ahmad Shukor. Also present were Indian movie actor Vidhart and movie producer Suresh Kamach.
Meanwhile, Ipoh Barat MP M.Kulasegaran officiated the Open House which was attended by some 6,,000 people from all walks of life from 5pm to 10pm
In his speech, he explained the benefits in the 2026 budget for the people.
He also plans to bring in the Public Services Department (PSD) and other departments and agencies to brief potential job seekers on how they should prepare themselves before attending interviews.
“There are cases of candidates failing in the interviews due to various reasons.
“We want to ensure they are well prepared including dress code, knowledgeable and also presentable. The meeting would most probably be held in the first week of November in Ipoh,” he added.
