Vandalism is becoming a big problem at public parks in Ipoh.
Of late, several public park facilities had been vandalised by some irresponsible individuals.
In a recent incident, the door to the ladies surau at Gunung Lang recreational park had been vandalised.
Despite the Ipoh City Council repairing the particular door on several occasions, the issue has been repeated.
Ipoh Mayor Dato Rumaizi Baharin takes a strong view of these incidents and has a stern warning and reminder for them.
He added that these facilities are for the convenience of the visitors to the various attractions in the city.
“The cost of repairs and upkeep is borne by the Ipoh City Council which are also public funds. These facilities should not be vandalised”, he added.
In view of this, the council will place plain clothed officers to look out for the culprits. These officers will patrol the various tourism attractions to ensure that no untoward incidents take place.
At the same time, visitors to the Gunung Lang Recreational Park and the Sultan Abdul Aziz Recreational Park are reminded not to litter the surroundings.
Members of the public can 05-2551515 or 019-5503083 to report any vandalism incidents in the public parks.
