Individuals or organisations who wish to distribute free food and drinks in conjunction with the up-coming Thaipusam celebrations on Feb 1 are required to apply for permits to set up tents only from the Ipoh City Council.
According to the council statement applicants need to submit forms with supporting information including MyKad numbers, location of the sites and picture of the location.
Those who want to operate businesses as temporary hawkers must apply for hawkers’ licenses and tent permits. All conditions are printed in the application forms.
The forms can be obtained from the council’s official portal or physically from the council’s licensing counter and Lot 8, UTC Perak. The closing date is January 20, 2026.
Cooperation and adhering to the rules and regulations from all quarters is appreciated to ensure Thaipusam is smoothly organised with safety aspects in place.
