The Ipoh City Council had been selected to implement a new road surfacing technology known as Cuplump Modified  Asphalt (CMA).

The technology is a collaboration between the council and Malaysian Rubber Board (Lembaga Getah Malaysia) through the Ministry of Plantation and  Commodities and the cost borne by the Ministry of Finance.

The rubberized asphalt technology will upgrade the quality of the surfacing work, extend the life span, reduce maintenance costs, cut down on cracks and  rutting.

Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud visited the site of the work at Jalan Cetak, Tasek Industrial Park on November 22.

The council had received an allocation of RM5 million which will cover a distance of 9.5km which will be used for partial resurfacing of the roads at Tasek Industrial Park, IGB Industrial Park, part of Jalan Bendahara and also part of the main road at Station 18.

The work which started on November 22 is expected to be completed in four to six weeks.

The council urged road users to adhere to the traffic rules on these roads so that the work will be carried out smoothly.
