Some 3,000 residents threw away their blankets on a sunny Sunday to participate in the Donut City Fun Walk @Ipoh Low Carbon for the month of November with the theme “Global Donut Economics Day” at Dataran MBI here last Sunday. 

The theme was selected in conjunction with World Donut Economics Day by Doughnut Economics Action Lab (Deal) held at Dataran MBI last Sunday. 

The celebrations fall on November 13.

The event was officiated by Ipoh City Council’s Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak who represented the Mayor. 

Also present were councillors and representatives from Government agencies. 

The objective of event is to promote and transform Ipoh City as well as Perak as a Donut Economic City by 2027.

Among others are to have a better understanding of the Donut Economy concept. 

It is also a platform to bring together the local community among them instructors, entrepreneurs, and artistes, academicians and the policy makers with economy experts and also global communication. 

It will also improve the circular economy, sustainable development which has to take into several factors including  social justice, balanced economy and the suitability of the local situation. 

It is a platform to exchange ideas and initiatives from individuals, groups and organisations.
