Ipoh City Council (MBI) stamped their mark at the 68th state level Merdeka Day celebrations march past when they grabbed two prizes in two different categories on August 31.

The council was declared as the winner in the Best March past  category among the local authorities, statutory bodies, private sectors and NGOs.

The contingent also took home RM10,000 and an appreciation certificate. They also came in second in the best attire category and received RM4,000 and an appreciation certificate.

Sultan Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah presented the prizes to the winners.

The slogan “Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni” concept and the colours of the Jalur Gemilang in the costume captured the attention of the judges.

The design of the apparel is the result of the creative touch of Nur Shuhada Samat from the council’s Corporate Planning Department.

The contingent consists of 10 officers from the secretariat and 56 staff from the various departments.

They underwent intensive training on July 30.

The energetic display and the high level of discipline prompted the council to grab double winnings in this year’s celebrations.

The full support and guidance from Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah and Council Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak were instrumental  for the contingent to come out tops.
