A delegation from Ipoh City Council (MBI) led by its Secretary Ahmad Munir Ishak attended the 12th Tourism Promotion Organisation (TPO) General Assembly in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam held from September 3 to 5.
The group included councillors Basri Mohamad Nor, Lawrence Palanisamy, UTC Perak General Manager Abdul Halim Saad and council’s Community Services and Society Department Deputy Director Jamunarani Nadarajah .
Several sessions were held with members of other cities during the duration of the assembly, among them 45th Executive Meeting, Leaders’ Conference, Bilateral Meeting with delegation from Busan, Gimhae and Taichung,Plenary Session and presentation of TPO Awards.
MBI won two of the awards for Excellence:Sustainable Tourism Award received by Ahmad Munir and the Leadership Tourism Award to Jamunarani as an appreciation for her role in promoting Ipoh’s tourism sector .
The awards were presented by TPO for Global Cities General Secretary Madam Kang Da-Eun.
