Ipoh Mayor with the winners

The public toilet at Restoran Cawan Mu F&B Sdn Bhd  located in Bandar Cyber here made the city proud after the premise won the “Toilet Of The Year Award” (TOTYA) 2023 in a competition organised by the Local Government Development Ministry through the Local Government Department at Dewan Seroja Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam(KGPA), Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur on October 30.

The winner also took home a cash prize of RM10,000, certificate and a plaque in the restaurant category. 

Meanwhile Restoran Cafe Wonderland in the city was presented with a certificate and plaque for being picked as the finalist in the restaurant category competition. 

The prizes were given away by Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming. 

Also present was Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud. 

Ipoh City Council had nominated six premises in four categories. 

Since 2012 until this year the council had sent in 75 nominations for clean public toilets at the national level and won 31 prizes, which had become a reference to other toilets. 

Rumaizi urged the two restaurants as well as other winners in the past to maintain the cleanliness of the toilets to ensure more tourists and visitor will come to Ipoh. 

This will also be a boost to the tourism industry especially with the Visit Ipoh Year 2023 and Visit Perak Year 2024. 

The award is to transform public toilets to be clean, attractive and fragrant.
