The Ipoh City Council (MBI) contingent won a commendable third placing in the Merdeka march past competition under the Local Authorities/Statutory Bodies, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Private Sector category at the 2026 Perak State-Level National Day Celebration, which took place yesterday.

In recognition of this achievement, the MBI contingent received a cash prize of RM2,000, together with a certificate of appreciation.

Present was Perak Sultan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah who presented the prize to Muhammad Firdaus Hassan, Head of the MBI Marching Contingent. Also present was Perak Menteri Besar Dato Saarani Mohamed.

This year’s MBI contingent comprised 57 parade personnel and 12 secretariat officers from various MBI departments. All members underwent intensive training from 3 August 2026 in preparation for the event, with a strong focus on maintaining the highest standards of discipline, marching uniformity and overall performance.

The dedication, commitment and team spirit demonstrated throughout the parade were clearly reflected in the contingent’s well-coordinated movements, high level of discipline and energetic performance. These qualities successfully captured the attention of the panel of judges and earned the MBI contingent its third-place position.

This achievement was also made possible through the continuous support and guidance of Ipoh Mayor, Zamakhshari Hanipah together with A’zman Mohd Harun, City Secretary, as well as the strong commitment demonstrated by the officers, trainers, secretariat members and all contingent personnel, who gave their full dedication throughout the training and preparation period.

The achievement is not only a source of pride for the entire MBI community, but also reflects the strong values of discipline, unity, teamwork and patriotism among the employees of the Ipoh City Council.
