The Ipoh City Council has introduced a new technology of repairing potholes which will reduce repair work from one hour based on the conventional way to 20 minutes.
Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud said the new method known as “Hot In-Place” apart from shortening the time it is also environmentally friendly.
” The latest technology will involve digging, preparing the asphalt and bitumen which will be poured on to the pothole to hot press before the steamroller will flatten the surface.
According to him, a custom made vehicle will be used for the job to improve the conventional “mark and cut” method which takes a longer time to finish the job.
“The new technology of repairing potholes will last longer and increase the quality,” he told reporters after witnessing the new method of repairing potholes at Jalan Ghazali Jawi here on November 2.
The repair work will be carried out at the major roads in the city while the conventional method will still be used in housing areas.
