The Perak Chinese Assembly Hall (PCAH) held its Chinese New Year celebrations and ushered in the Year of the Rabbit in a grand gathering held at the Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites.
Lending presence was Perak Menteri Besar Dato Saarani Mohamad along with other dignitaries,
PCAH president Datuk Kwan Foh Kwai and his committee members were on hand to welcome the VIP guest with the sounds of lion dance and firecrackers.
The event was a colourful and memorable one considering that almost three years no such large celebrations were held.
Also president was the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, YB Chang Lih Kang, Consul General of the Republic of China in Penang, Zhou Youbin, Perak Police Chief Dato Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri among others.
In his address, Saarani wished everyone a Happy New Year and thanked the assembly hall for their kind invitation.
“Malaysia is a good example of a country which has multi-racial population living in harmony. We must treasure such peace and harmony.
“We have also overcome the Covid-19 pandemic and look forward to the recovery of the economy and businesses.
“We also value the contribution of the Assembly Hall in all of the state government’s programmes,” said Saarani in his address.
Meanwhile, Kwan thanked Perak Menteri Besar for his kind attendance and applauded his efforts to bring the state to greater heights.
“On behalf of PCAH, we are always ready to support the state’s plans to develop and bring prosperity to its people. I also welcome the Malaysia Madani concept introduced by the new Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“Our association was formed in 1927 by businessman Leon Sin Nam and we have played our role in nation building and aso to represent the Chinese community,” said Kwan.
In this context, he also requested for the waiver of quit rent and assessment for the SK Yuk Chow to ease their burden of the school.
Guests were also treated to a fine lunch and entertainment show at the gathering.
