Some 10,000 people attended the Perak Deepavali Open House celebration at Indera Mulia Stadium on October 26.
Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim graced the event .
Also in attendance was Raja Muda Perak Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa, Raja DiHilir Perak Raja Islandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris Shah, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, State Human Resources National Integration, Health and Indian Community Affairs Committee Chairman A.Sivanesan and other state dignitaries.
While the public tucked into the traditional dishes they were entertained by songs and cultural dances.
Sultan Nazrin and Tuanku Zara also presented contributions to 68 orphans from five homes.
They were Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Anak-Anak Yatim Dan Miskin Nurul Iman, Pusat Pengurusan Pusat Jagaan 1 Malaysia Perak, Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Pelangi Perak, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Yatim Rumah Visit (Vision Home) and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Kanak-Kanak Arutperum Jothi.
Dances were performed by pupils from SJK (T) Tun Sambanthan, Bidor Sekolah Kebangsaan Bidor, SJK (C) Pin Min Bidor while Urumi Melam Sanggamam from Ipoh displayed the drum skills .
Kumpulan Selendang Perak and Persatuan Seni Kebudayaan India Greentown also kept the crowd entertained.
