Some 5,000 people converged at Jalan Utama Tambun, Sunway City to watch 29 contingents participating in a parade as well as witnessed 57 vehicles of various units from the Fire and Rescue Department 2024 passing by on May 4.

The event was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is also the Tambun MP. 

The crowd also had the opportunity to watch demonstrations and rescue missions by the department’s personnel in cases of emergencies. 

Exhibition booths displayed the equipments used by the department to fight fire and rescue operations. 

Not forgetting personnel who died in  line of duty their names were also displaced to remember their sacrifices. 

Anwar also received a portrait of himself presented to him by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming. 

The Prime Minister dressed in a firefighter uniform was captured during a successful mission to extinguish a cross border wildfire from 1997. 

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Fire and Rescue Department Director General Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad. 

Pos Malaysia also launched commemorative stamps featuring the department’s assets. 

Earlier Anwar inspected a guard of honour mounted by two officers and 99 personnel from the department.
