In an effort to make preparations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026, a delegation from the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) Perak paid a courtesy call on Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah recently. .

The visitors led by its Director Muhammad Aminuddin Abdul Majid met mayor Zamakhshari to enhance cooperation between the two entities in view of the Visit Year.

The session was a platform to forge closer ties apart from coordinating plans in the tourism sector. It was an opportunity to open up comprehensive collaboration involving all stakeholders.

Among the agencies involved in the discussion were the Department of Arts and Culture, Department of National Heritage, Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation,National Visual and Arts Gallery.

This is to ensure the approach and the plans drawn up are more holistic and have a high impact in developing tourism, culture and heritage.

Present at the session were councillor Datuk Ahmad Hariri Kamarudin and council’s heads of departments.

The council and MOTAC had given their commitment to strengthen the coordination programmes as well as initiatives to focus on tourism based on culture to boost knowledge of visitors and showcase the  unique features of Ipoh City as a preferred destination .

The delegation hoped that with the visit, the  cooperation would be enhanced further  and coordinate the direction jointly to ensure Perak especially Ipoh City would remain as an attractive destination for cultural tourism and heritage to support Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
