PUSPANITA of the Ipoh City Council (Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh, MBI) organized a “Visit While Giving Back” program at the Darulssalam Orphanage Welfare Organization Care Centre, Ipoh, Perak, as part of its social responsibility and community welfare initiatives recently.
The program was led by Puan Kartini Ibrahim, Chairperson of PUSPANITA MBI, and was also attended by committee members. The visit also aimed to reach out to the orphans while instilling values of care, compassion and the spirit of volunteerism among PUSPANITA members.
Throughout the program, various activities were carried out, including the presentation of donations such as toys—bicycles, carrom boards, and similar items—as well as storybooks, along with a friendly interaction session with the residents of the care centre. The children were also treated to meals from Marrybrown, and a birthday celebration was held for children born in the month of December.
It is hoped that this program brought joy to the orphans and, to some extent, helped ease the burden of the management of the welfare centre.
According to Azizul Mohd Othman, the Chairperson of the centre, efforts to care for orphans began in 2007 at his own home. Later, when Tan Sri Ahmad Azizuddin purchased a piece of land and endowed the site, the centre was officially established in 2012. Financial resources come from the centre’s committee members as well as assistance from various other parties. There are a total of 46 orphans at the home.
