Ipoh City Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah received a courtesy call from the Tourism Promotion Organisation (TPO) for Global Cities, Secretary General Madam Kang Da-Eun at the Ipoh City Council (MBI) office recently.
The visit is an important diplomatic platform to enhance international relations especially in the tourism field between Ipoh City and the network of global cities under the patronage of TPO.
During the meeting several topics were discussed, among them Ipoh City as a potential sustainable tourist destination, cultural exchange programmes, smart tourists initiatives which can be expanded through TPO network cooperation.
Zamakhshari in his address welcomed the visit by Puan Kang and expressed the council’s commitment to play a role in the regional and international platform to promote Ipoh as a city with heritage identity, livable and sustainable.
Kang praised the council for their warmth and friendly welcoming ceremony and assured the openness in developing the tourism sector in the city through various programmes and collaboration.
The visit is a kick start for a stronger cooperation to realise the aspiration of Ipoh to become an international tourist city destination.
The meeting ended in exchange of souvenirs between the two parties.
Also present were councillor Mohd Helmi Mohamed Fuzi and council’s Community Services and Society Department Director Romzi Zamri.
