As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), Vale in Malaysia showed its care for single mothers in the Manjung area where they operate.
They expaned their collaboration with Pertubuhan Ibu Tunggal Kebangsaan Malaysia Parlimen Lumut to improve their lives and livelihoods.
“We are firmly committed to help and assist the local community where we operate to enhance their livelihood in the long term,” said Vale chief executive officer, Rodrigo Ribeiro de Araújo.
Among the programmes include activities like sewing, such as curtains, tablecloths, souvenirs and handicrafts,
It is expected that with the influx of tourists, the single mothers can benefit from their cottage industries.
In the meantime, it is significant to note that Vale has invested RM2 million on various socio-environmental initiatives to uplift the communities in Manjung.
