Located in the heart of Ipoh’s heritage enclave, is the Oldtown Beerhole Bistro & Cafe.

As the name suggests, it is one of the popularĀ  “watering holes” for all beer lovers.

Their impressive choice of beer selection include local and foreign brands. Among them are German, British and Japanese beer choices.

Although they officially opened in Dec last year but had to a hiatus due to MCO restrictions.

The unique feature at the bar is that it operates on a “self service” basis.

Guests can walk up to the various refrigerators located there to collect their choices of beer and move over to the cashier counter to pay for their drinks.

In this way they can sell their beer at cheaper prices due to their lower costs for labour and overheads.

“We pride ourselves as being the only bar in town to operate on this self-service concept.

“So far, our customers do not mind the new concept and are happy to collect their own drinks,” said a spokesman for the outlet.

They also serve a variety of local and Western dishes to go with the beer. Among them include beef and lamb stew.

Their interior ambience offers a fusion of retro and modern artworks on the walls and floors.

There is also a juxbox for guests to select their favourite numbers.

Over on the first floor, an elegant balcony offer a panoramic view on the streets and passerby. There is also wall to wall art work and floor art works.
