In line with the Perak State’s target of planting some 100 million treesĀ in the next five years (2021 to 2025), a community tree planting session was held at Taman Rishah Indah here.

“In line with the state’s initiative which was launched on Jan 5 to plant some 100 million trees in the state under the “Our Trees, Our Life” programme, today’s programme is highly commendable.

“Today’s programme is part of making our country “Green” to safeguard the green areas in the country. Our efforts are also aimed at creating awareness among the public on the need to maintain a green environment.

“This programme will also engage government agencies, the private sector and institutions of higher education and the general public to embrace the culture of planting trees,” said Rumaizi in his speech.

He also added that despite the current Covid-19 pandemic, the Ipoh City Council will still continue its efforts to promote the green project.

“I am made to understand that some 10 seedlings of the “Caesalpinia Ferrea” or commonly known as the Brazilian Ironwood will be planted this morning.

“I sincerely hope that our session today will motivate all parties gathered today to inculcate and create more awareness so as to improve the ecosystem and biodiversity of our country,” added Rumaizi.

Finally, he also called all parties to ensure that the state’s target of planting 100 million trees is achieved by the year 2025.
