Ipoh, popularly known as the “Town that tin Built” has numerous mining pools in and around the city.

One such location is the Tanjung Tualang tin mining area which houses the only dredge in the country also known as the Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No 5 (TT5) which was built in 1938.

Other than being a top tourist attraction, TT5 has also been remodelled to become a Maze Garden

The initiative was taken up by Menteri Besar Inc (MB Inc) in 2020 but the official launching ceremony was delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We wanted to add value to the TT5 area but the pandemic had delayed our plans. The concept is based on another Maze Garden on Jeju Island, South Korea,” said the Chief Executive Officer of MB Inc, Anuar Zainal Abidin.

He also added that the MGTT will be the first Maze Garden in the country.

“We only charge RM5 per person for entry. The area is some 2,972.89 square meters in the shape of a heart.

A halal seafood restaurant is also in the pipeline.

“The project cost is RM35 million and the necessary SOPs will be implemented for the reopening,” added Anuar.

Syabas to MB Inc for thinking “out of the box” in bringing new and valuable tourist destinations to the state.
