TREVO launch in Ipoh

There is a new car hiring service for Ipohites.

TREVO, a leading people-to-people (P2P) car rental marketplace, celebrated its official arrival in Ipoh recently with a launch event and evening cocktail session themed HelloIpoh!

The event was held at the Sarang Paloh heritage building, the gathering saw the attendance of officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture responsible for promoting Perak tourism, business people from the northern state’s mobility and tourism industry, as well as various influencers and media representatives.

Susan Teoh, General Manager of TREVO said the company decided on Ipoh as the newest location for its expansion plans amidst the growth in travelers opting to take road trips instead of flying or taking public transportation due to the pandemic.

“The city of Ipoh and the state of Perak were rising tourist destinations before the pandemic, with its distinctive and charming blend of history, culture and nature-based attractions.

“Now that Malaysia’s tourism sector is working towards recovery, we think it is an ideal time to offer more travellers the option of exploring the hidden gems of Ipoh and beyond in a private vehicle, while enabling car owners in Ipoh to generate additional income to achieve their lifestyle and financial goals – by listing their cars for rental on the TREVO platform,” said Teoh.

Although travel dropped significantly around Malaysia in 2020, Perak remained a leading destination, emerging the second-most visited state with 13.2m visitors who made a total of 14m trips, including 4.9m visitors who visited for tourism purposes

With Perak welcoming 10.1 million domestic tourists in 2019 2 – the highest among all the states, there is ample room for tourism recovery to pre-pandemic levels in the Silver State.

On the international front, Ipoh and Perak are expected to see further tourism growth once the borders reopen and international visitors return. Before the pandemic, there had been rising recognition for the city and state, with Ipoh being listed among Lonely Planet’s Top 10 best Asian destinations in 2016.

Perak listed among the publication’s Top 10 must-visit regions around the world in 2017 and Ipoh being one of only three Asian cities named in Lonely Planet’s guide on the best coffee experiences worldwide.

“We want more visitors in Ipoh to experience the benefits of flexible mobility in a private vehicle offered through the TREVO platform. Since our soft launch on 13 November 2021, we have registered over 200 Ipoh-based cars on the TREVO platform and we are confident this number will grow quickly following our official launch. We also encourage the TREVO community to spread the word using the hashtags #TREVOmali and #HelloIpoh when they post social media content relating to our expansion to Ipoh,” added Teoh.

To celebrate the arrival of TREVO in Ipoh, TREVO is offering 50% OFF any booking made in Ipoh with a minimum spend of RM100 using the code HELLOIPOH50, with the discount capped at RM200. The offer is valid for two transactions per user and ends on Jan 14, 2022.
