Ipoh City, often described as a food haven, has added another feather to its cap after the popular Ipoh White Coffee had been listed as the tenth best coffees in the world by the Taste Atlas website.
Ipoh City Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin@Md Daud said the beverage had been selected from the list of 39 best coffees.
The list was published by the website on March 15. The listing is based on assessments by the website users.
As for Ipoh White Coffee, the beans are roasted in margarine and then ground and brewed to come out with a smoother caramel-like drink.
This is based on the Asian Inspiration assessment.
Rumaizi noted a series of mechanisms were put in place and disregarded assessment from nationalists or local patriots.
TasteAtlas stressed the list is to promote quality local food, cultivate pride in traditional dishes and also expose dishes that have not been tried.
Among the top 10 are coffees: Espresso Freddo (Greece), Cafe Cubano (Cuba), Indian Filter Coffee (India), Freddo Cappuccino (Greece), Cafe Bombon (Spain), Cappuccino (Italy), Turkish Coffee (Turkey), Ristretto (Italy) and Frappe Coffee (Greece).
