The Ipoh City Council in an effort to produce quality news articles on its  news portal and social media organised a three day course in Cameron Highlands from November 12 to 14.

A total of 23 officers and staff from various departments including Management Services, Community Services, Treasury, Enforcement, Supervision of Buildings,Parks and Landscape, Integrity and One Stop Centre attended the course.

Two journalists, Sinar Harian Bureau Chief Saifullah Ahmad and Malaysia Gazette Perak Editor Mohamad Hafizi Mohd Said guided the participants on ways and steps to enhance write ups.

Throughout the course they were involved in various interactive and training sessions including Workshop on Basic News Writing and Ethics, Laws, Press Conference stimulation, Program Mobile Journalism  (MOJO) as well as portal and social media news writing and AI.

The course focussed on the importance of disseminating accurate, swift and ethical information to strengthen the role of the council as a transparent, rakyat friendly and responsive to current situation local authority.

The council’s Management Services Director Normala Latiff who represented the Mayor Zamakhshari Hanipah officiated the closing ceremony.

It is hoped that the course would enhance the ability and capability of Corporate Communication to provide high impact information to the residents through digital platforms and social media.
